Ngonidzashe Gomo Profile
Ngonidzashe Gomo a punching needle weave artist in Harare Zimbabwe, born on the 28th of March 1961 in Bindura district, is married with three children. Presently working at the U.Z. Student Health Services Department as an Orderly.
Gomo was introduced to weave art in 2006, inspired by Mr. Marime and Martin weave artists, who are his mentors, now he is able to develop is own style for the art.
Weave art, involves the use of a punching needle to draw or design door mats and any other items of the like.
With his punching needle Gomo is able to produce door mates, seat covers, toilet seats, wall hangers, as well as an product of that sought designed as per customer’s needs.
Through creativeness he can produce work of village scenes, sunset or sunrise, figures among others. Some of his art work is being sold around the city as well as on South African markets.
He also has ambitions of developing weave art, through trainings at schools and various organizations, with the hopes of opening a school of art and introducing the subject in both public and private schools. Through women empowerment he has done a lot in his industry, namely the Mutare Methodist Church Women fellowship group which he trained and is now producing its own art work.
