Entertainment Reporter
Artistes drawn from various places in the country are set to release a soccer World Cup album titled Uzobungaphi on 20 April.
The album talks about the largest world football showcase that will be played on African soil for the first time. The tournament will be held in South Africa from 11 June to 11 July this year.
Some of the artistes that took part in the album are Sandra Ndebele and Khulekani Bhethule. The project features 10 tracks. Ndebele, an award-winning songstress makes her presence felt with a dance song with a Rhumba-kwasa feel.
The up-and-coming POY (Proud of You) delivers hard-hitting lyrics in a hip hop freestyle. There is also a rendition of the song Famba Nebora.
One of Bulawayo’s top DJs Steam, contributes an upbeat electro house remix of the popular soccer cheer song, Yave Nyama Yekugocha.
Bhethule, known as Khuxman of Let’s Unite fame shows off his sonic dexterity in, “Vuvuzela” a piece that stands to prove he still has the midas touch. Future Sibanda, formerly with Iyasa is in with a surprise as he does Austrian modelling on a mellow house beat. Out to prove himself, Hwabaraty, an actor on Yizolo Yizolo, a professional dancer and percussionist holds the title track with a class act that other MCs will envy.
Mjox and Mzala, “the usual suspects”, express their creativity in a fast tempo beat that is bound to rock music circles. The album will only be sold at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair next week.
